Back in the saddle, beer and dragons

Alex opens the cellar door, and whistling a summer tune he steps into the darkness. Half way down an insidious noisome odor assaults his nostrils in what only can be described as sinus rape. He reels, arms flailing, hastening his pace, and stumbles to the bottom. Searching through watery eyes he scans for whatever unspeakable horror must surely be waiting...

"Oh", he gasps, "it's you."

Hello readers!

Sorry I've let this thing go to pasture for the past 11 months, but here I am again, dusting off the cobwebs. Did you miss me?

Over the past year I've been doing an ever increasing amount of reading and writing, which you may find surprising considering I left this blog to die a slow and lonely death, but its true.

I recently finished the most recent book in George R. R. Martins series "A song of Fire and Ice" called A Dance with Dragons

A Dance with Dragons: A Song of Ice and Fire: Book Five

If you're curious this comic sums it up quite well. Although it's talking mainly about the HBO series which is based on the first book "Game of Thrones", I think the comic holds true for the rest of the series as well. "Heh".

We've got a lot to catch up on in the weeks and months a head so I keep this post short and sweet, but I'd love to hear what you've been doing over the past year, feel free to leave me a comment.

ps. Oh, one more thing: Home-brew beer is amazing! Here is a picture from my first batch, 18L of Strathcona Pale Ale, just opened a bottle last night and I couldn't be happier. Cheers!
